What was offered as a “resort” was actually closer to a basic homestay.
• Very limited menu
• One person handling everything (caretaker, cook, cleaner, watchman), which clearly affected service and our overall holiday experience
• Standard response to most requests was “not available”
• Not senior citizen friendly
• Swimming pool not really usable by non-swimmers. (This is because the steps lead directly into the deep end and not into the shallow end)
• No proper hot water in some rooms/poor coordination
Google reviews did not reflect the actual reality we experienced was something very different
Overall, the resort experience and ambience were missing.
We had a good time only because of our group—not because of the place.
We feel that although the place was initially suggested by us, it needed to be vetted better by Thomas Cook in terms of its facilities, food and its suitability for senior citizens.
Thank you Thomas Cook for organizing a wonderful holiday for us in Amara Kosha Stays, Misty Hills, in Nandi Hills, Karnataka from March 24 to 27th.
This small exclusive resort was ideal for us as a group of old friends, all senior citizens, seeking to have a relaxing holiday and spend quality time together while doing some local sightseeing.
The two 2BHK Amara Kosha villas where we stayed were well-equipped, with all the comforts of a cosy holiday home, including jacuzzis in each villa. The full-size swimming pool with an attached was a big bonus.
The menu options were limited but the food was homely and tasty and always ready on time. Our personal preferences were taken into account and our caretaker Bhaskar, always helpful and obliging, provided willing service with a smile.
The transport arrangements were excellent. The bus was well-maintained and spacious, with comfortable seats. The driver Shekar knew all the local sights and drove us safely around. He was very attentive to our special needs as some members of the group had minor mobility issues.
All in all, it was a very pleasant and memorable holiday.
A big thank you to Shivshankar of Thomas Cook India who organized the tour, helped to plan the itinerary and negotiated a good deal with the resort. Afsha Ali very efficiently coordinated all the logistics of our tour. She was very responsive to our diverse personal requirements, answered all our queries patiently and resolved all our issues quickly to our satisfaction.

The rooms were a highlight, especially the spacious duplex layout. The ground floor was well-equipped with a functional kitchen, a comfortable room with an attached bathroom, and a dining area with a TV. Upstairs, we found another room with an attached bathroom and, best of all, a fantastic projector room. This room, complete with a bed in front of the screen, was an absolute hit, especially with the kids! The kitchen deserves a special mention for being fully loaded with all necessary utensils, a microwave, water filter, and water heater, making our stay very convenient.
The food was a delightful home-cooked experience. We savored delicious dal, sabji, and starters. For breakfast, they even offered a few choices, which was a nice touch. We stuck to the vegetarian options, and they were all very good.
The amenities were excellent. The swimming pool was great, and the Jacuzzi on the top floor was an awesome addition – perfect for unwinding.
Service was prompt and attentive. Bahadur, the caretaker, was always just a call away, ensuring all our needs were met swiftly. The cook also personally met us to understand our food requirements, which we really appreciated.
Regarding the location, it’s quite close to Nandi Hills, but it’s important to note there’s nothing else nearby, and the view from the homestay was average. We’d definitely advise carrying all your necessary purchases, as there are no shops close by, though the homestay does provide basic necessities.
Check-in and check-out were incredibly smooth and hassle-free. It felt like visiting a friend’s place – a simple knock and someone was there to greet us, and departure was just as quick.
Overall, the homestay offered a very comfortable and well-serviced experience, particularly great for families or groups looking for a relaxing getaway with excellent amenities like the projector room, functional kitchen and an incredible Jacuzzi.

The property was clean and matching exactly with the photos/videos uploaded. The cook prepared amazing food across all meals and even accepted our requests off the menu.
The place is little secluded as the other plots around the property is yet to be built which offers complete privacy and you’d feel you’re far away from the chaos of the world.
Overall we had an amazing stay with family as this property.
